ADC Will Not Merge With Existing Parties to Win 2027 Election, Says Abdullahi

ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi says the party will not collapse into any existing political party ahead of the 2027 elections but remains open to alliances based on shared ideology.

The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, has ruled out the possibility of the party collapsing into any existing political party ahead of the 2027 general election.

Abdullahi, a former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, said the ADC would pursue its electoral ambitions independently, while remaining open to alliances founded on shared political ideology and common objectives.

He spoke in Ilorin during a gathering of party leaders and members in Kwara State held to celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir festivities.

The ADC spokesman said the party had continued to witness growing membership across the state and was satisfied with the quality of candidates that emerged from its primaries for the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate and governorship elections.

According to him, the party’s doors remain open to politicians and supporters from other political platforms willing to join its ranks.

“Our door is wide open,” he said.

Abdullahi urged Nigerians to rally behind the ADC in the 2027 elections, arguing that the country requires a change in leadership to address insecurity, economic hardship and other pressing national challenges.

He expressed concern over rising cases of kidnapping, banditry and violent crime across the country, describing the security situation as alarming.

“Reported cases of kidnapping, banditry and killing have taken a serious toll on people in various states of the country and this has brought a lot of concern. This must stop and ADC is capable of causing the necessary change to move Nigeria forward,” he said.

The former commissioner for education in Kwara State also criticised the economic policies of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), alleging that they had imposed severe hardship on many Nigerians.

He called on party members to intensify grassroots mobilisation and prepare for the political contests ahead, stressing that electoral victory would require the collective effort of party members and supporters.

Abdullahi expressed confidence that the ADC would emerge victorious in both Kwara State and at the national level in 2027.

“We have qualified and experienced candidates. We don’t have candidates that have been to EFCC before,” he said.

He, however, emphasised that meaningful political change could only be achieved through active support and participation by Nigerians.

According to him, the responsibility of delivering good governance should not be left to candidates alone but requires the commitment of citizens determined to chart a new course for the country.
