The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has launched its 2027 election campaign in Isoko Thursday with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa rallying party members to secure over two million votes for President Bola Tinubu and the party’s candidates.
At the flag-off rally in Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area, Oborevwori urged Deltans to support the APC noting that his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) followed consultations with stakeholders and was intended to align the state with the Federal Government.
He praised Tinubu’s economic reforms arguing that increased revenue allocations had improved the financial capacity of state and local governments to execute projects and meet their obligations.
He disclosed that 17,500 Delta students had benefited from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and encouraged more eligible students to apply for the scheme.
Oborevwori also highlighted his administration’s record in infrastructure, education and healthcare, while disclosing that the State Executive Council had approved the construction of police divisional headquarters in all 25 local government areas ahead of the proposed establishment of state police.
At a separate rally in Ozoro, headquarters of Isoko North Local Government Area, the governor appealed to the Isoko people to support the APC urging them to show love, through their votes, to his wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, who is from the area.
His wife also appealed to the people to support Tinubu, her husband and other APC candidates, describing voting as a decisive instrument of political expression.
“Your vote is your voice, your strength and your weapon. Use it to vote for APC,” she told the gathering.
Former Governor Okowa challenged party members to work towards delivering more than two million votes for Tinubu and Oborevwori in 2027, insisting that the party must also win other elective positions across the state.
Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme urged Deltans to sustain their support for the administration, citing what he described as significant progress in road infrastructure, education and healthcare.
The APC State Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, presented party flags to candidates contesting the Delta South Senatorial District, Isoko Federal Constituency and the Isoko North and South state constituencies. He charged party members to secure victory at their respective polling units.
Director-General of the Delta APC Campaign Council, Senator James Manager, acknowledged the economic hardship facing Nigerians but urged them to remain hopeful, saying the Federal Government’s reforms were beginning to yield better results.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, expressed satisfaction with the turnout, which he likened to a national campaign rally.
He defended the Tinubu administration’s reforms, saying they were designed to address the country’s economic challenges.
