2027: Kwara APC G-15 Warn National Leadership Of Looming Crisis, Reject One-Man Control

Kwara APC G-15 warns party leadership of electoral risks ahead of 2027, demanding transparency, equity and wider consultation.

Fifteen influential leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State under the aegis of Grouplp -15 Thursday warned the national leadership of the APC on the impending.prospects risk in the party ahead of 2027 general elections in the state.

The group therefore demanded transparency, fairness and equity in the  party appointments and candidates selections  for 2027 in the state.

The G-15, made up of former ministers,  serving and former lawmakers, party chieftains and grassroots mobilizers.

In a communiqué issued in Ilorin by the group after the meeting  held in Ilorin on Tuesday and read by Senator  Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, the group said its resolve “remains unshaken” in resisting what it called exclusion, imposition and one-man control of the Kwara APC

“We reject every attempt to treat the APC as the personal property of any individual or to impose a predetermined political arrangement upon its members,”

The communique said. “Kwara deserves a credible, transparent and democratic process, not one designed to endorse a preferred candidate through coercion and exclusion.”

The group announced three key resolutions. “First, immediate statewide consultation with party members, youth and women groups in all 16 LGAs to strengthen structures. Second, demand for transparency, fairness and equity in party appointments and candidate selection for 2027.

“Third, a commitment to restore the original ideals of inclusiveness and consultation upon which the APC was founded in Kwara”.

The group  described itself as a coalition of party elders, aspirants and concerned APC members, accusing *Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq* of abandoning the 2019 Otó gé ideals”

“Sadly, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, who benefited most from that historic struggle, has departed from the ideals upon which it was founded. What now prevails is exclusion, manipulation and unilateral decision-making,” the group stated.

The G-15 also warned the APC national leadership that the party’s 2027 prospects in Kwara are at risk.

“Through the unity and sacrifice of the people, the APC became dominant in the State, with victory at every level in 2027 firmly within reach.

“That prospect has now been gravely undermined by the unilateral decision of one individual. Unless the present arrangement is reconsidered, the party’s unity and electoral success can no longer be assured.”

The group said it “shall remain open to all legitimate political options” to defend members’ interests, and noted that opposition parties are already positioning to benefit from the crisis.

The group however urged calm and discipline.

“Remain steadfast. No inducement can purchase the conscience of an entire people. With faith in God and commitment to democratic principles, we shall neither surrender nor retreat.

“We achieved change together before; together, we shall achieve it again. Our resolve remains unshaken, and the struggle continues.”, the group.
