12 Injured In Ohio Festival Shooting As Police Hunt Suspects

Police launch manhunt after 12 people are shot near Ohio festival, leaving two victims critically injured.

At least 12 people were injured in a shooting near a community festival in the US city of Toledo, Ohio, prompting a major police search for the suspects involved.

The shooting occurred on Saturday evening near the Old West End Festival, a popular annual event that attracts thousands of visitors for live music, food, shopping and cultural activities.

According to the Toledo Police Department, 10 of the victims are in stable condition, while two remain in critical condition. The injured range in age from 16 to 61 years.

Police said officers responded to reports of gunfire at about 5:37 p.m. local time and believe at least two individuals exchanged gunfire before fleeing the scene.

Deputy Police Chief Joe Heffernan said preliminary investigations suggest the suspects were likely shooting at each other, though authorities have yet to make any arrests.

Investigators have cordoned off parts of Delaware Avenue and Robinwood Avenue, close to a section of the festival where food and music activities were taking place.

Footage circulating on social media appeared to show festival-goers running for safety as multiple gunshots rang out. Other videos showed injured victims receiving emergency assistance at the scene.

Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz said all those injured were expected to survive, while Ohio Governor Mike DeWine condemned the violence and expressed concern over the incident.
