Zelenskyy Meets European Leaders In London As EU Signals Support, Trump Remains Skeptical

Zelenskyy met European leaders in London to advance a 20-point peace plan with Russia, while Trump expressed scepticism and focused on migration.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with European leaders in London on Monday, describing the talks as productive in his ongoing efforts to end Russia’s invasion.

Joining Zelenskyy were the United Kingdom’s Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, collectively known as the E3. The Ukrainian president revealed that a 20-point peace proposal, developed jointly by Ukraine and European partners, would be finalised and shared with the United States by the end of the day.

While discussions continue, the issue of territorial control remains the most contentious obstacle to a lasting agreement. Despite these challenges, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stressed that the EU possesses both the means and political will to exert pressure on Russia to bring it to the negotiating table.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump expressed scepticism, signalling that his focus remains on European issues such as mass migration rather than on immediate mediation of the Ukraine conflict.

The London talks mark a significant effort by European leaders to consolidate support for Ukraine while exploring potential avenues for peace, even as global stakeholders maintain differing priorities.
