Professor Wole Soyinka has criticised the ‘excessive security’ deployment around President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, saying that it reflects poorly on Nigeria’s security priorities.

Some people online have commended Soyinka’s comments, stating that leaders’ children are not elected officials and that security should protect the people as opposed to a privileged few.

In a similar vein, the Nigeria Police Force announced that they deployed a special team across Lagos to ensure that President Tinubu’s order of prohibiting police personnel for VIPs is adhered to.
