Grammy-winning Afrobeats star Wizkid will headline the opening night of the 2026 Detty December Fest in Lagos, organisers have announced.
Wizkid is scheduled to perform on December 18, leading a 13-day celebration of music, culture, food, fashion and entertainment that will run until December 30.
The festival, produced by entertainment company Livespot360, will introduce a second performance stage this year as organisers expand its programme and create more opportunities for emerging African artists.
Wizkid will headline the main Festival Stage, while the newly introduced Pulse Stage will showcase emerging artists, new sounds and breakthrough talents shaping the future of African music.
Livespot360 co-founder and Chief Creative Officer, Darey Art Alade, said the new stage was designed to reflect the growing global influence of African music.
“African music has never been more influential globally, and we believe our festivals should reflect that ambition.”
Alade said the Pulse Stage would also provide an opportunity for younger artists to perform alongside established names in the industry.
“The introduction of the Pulse Stage is particularly exciting because it gives the next generation of artists a platform to perform alongside some of the biggest names in music. That’s how ecosystems grow,” he said.
The 2026 edition will therefore combine major headline performances with a dedicated platform for emerging talent, as organisers seek to broaden the festival’s appeal and showcase the depth of Africa’s music ecosystem.
Wizkid’s appearance is expected to make the opening night one of the major highlights of the festival, with the event bringing together music, entertainment and other aspects of Lagos’ December cultural scene.
