The White House has responded after actor Alan Ritchson criticised President Donald Trump while demanding the full release of the Jeffrey Epstein files during a recent podcast appearance.
In a statement to Entertainment Weekly on Friday, White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson reiterated the administration’s position, saying Trump has been “totally exonerated” in matters relating to Epstein.
“Just as President Trump has said, he’s been totally exonerated on anything relating to Epstein,” Jackson said. She added that Trump has released thousands of pages of documents, cooperated with a House Oversight Committee subpoena, signed the Epstein Files Transparency Act, and called for further investigations involving Epstein’s associates, arguing that the administration has done more for Epstein’s victims than any previous administration.
Jackson also criticised Democratic leaders, including Hakeem Jeffries and Stacey Plaskett, claiming they have not explained alleged interactions with Epstein after his conviction as a sex offender.
Although Trump has repeatedly said he has been exonerated, no court has formally issued such a ruling. His name appears multiple times in documents related to the Epstein investigation, though inclusion in the files does not, by itself, establish wrongdoing. Trump has consistently denied any criminal misconduct connected to Epstein.
Ritchson made the remarks during an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast after host Dax Shepardsuggested he should “let some of that stuff go.”
The actor rejected the idea, expressing frustration over what he described as a lack of accountability surrounding the Epstein investigation. He repeatedly called for the full release of the Epstein files and demanded that anyone implicated in criminal acts be held responsible.
Without directly naming Trump, Ritchson later appeared to reference the president, saying, “Go to jail. Go to jail,” while criticising those he believes should be held accountable.
The comments come after a judge dismissed Trump’s $10 billion lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal over its report about an alleged birthday letter to Epstein. Trump has denied writing the letter, maintains his innocence regarding any connection to Epstein’s crimes, and has since filed an amended version of the lawsuit.
