Venezuela’s Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, has said she is unaware of the whereabouts of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, following claims by United States President Donald Trump that they have been captured.
Rodríguez urged the United States to provide evidence that the Venezuelan leader and his wife are alive, demanding what she described as a “proof of life”.
Trump announced on Saturday that Maduro and his wife had been captured and flown to the US.
Reacting to the claim, the Vice President said the US must show that the President and his wife are alive.
United States Senator Mike Lee has also said that Maduro will face criminal charges in the United States.
This followed Trump’s announcement on Saturday regarding the alleged capture.
Rodríguez reiterated on Saturday morning that she is “unaware of the location of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife”, again urging “the United States to provide a ‘proof of life’ for them.”
