Tyla Wins Best Afrobeats Artist At 2026 AMAs, Beats Burna Boy, Wizkid And Rema

Tyla wins Best Afrobeats Artist at the 2026 American Music Awards, ahead of Burna Boy, Wizkid and Rema.

South African singer Tyla has won Best Afrobeats Artist at the 2026 American Music Awards in Las Vegas.

She beat Nigeria’s Burna Boy, Wizkid and Rema in a fan-voted category that drew wide attention across Africa and beyond.

The event took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and was hosted by Queen Latifah. It recognised artists across pop, hip-hop, country, Latin and Afrobeats.

BTS emerged as one of the biggest winners of the night, taking Artist of the Year. The group also won Song of the Summer for “Swim” and opened the show with a live performance.

Cardi B also had a strong showing, winning Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, Best Hip-Hop Song for “ErrTime” and Best Hip-Hop Album for AM I THE DRAMA?

Sabrina Carpenter won Album of the Year for Man’s Best Friend and also picked up Best Female Pop Artist.

Tyla’s category included MOLIY, but she secured the top award based on votes.

The awards continue to highlight competition across global music, with artists from K-pop, Afrobeats, hip-hop and pop all taking major honours.
