Donald Trump has declared that the United States will take decisive military action to dismantle Iran’s missile industry and neutralise its naval capabilities, insisting that Tehran will “never have a nuclear weapon.”
In a forceful statement, Trump described Iran as “the world’s number one state sponsor of terror” and reaffirmed that preventing the country from acquiring nuclear weapons remains a central pillar of US policy. He said Iran had rejected repeated efforts to abandon its nuclear ambitions, prompting what he characterised as a necessary response from Washington.
According to the president, US intelligence assessments indicate that Iran has been attempting to rebuild its long-range missile program — weapons he said could threaten American allies in Europe and potentially reach the United States in the future.
“For this reason, the United States military is undertaking a massive and ongoing operation to prevent this wicked, radical dictatorship from threatening our core national security interests,” Trump said.
The remarks signal an escalation in rhetoric between Washington and Tehran, amid longstanding tensions over Iran’s nuclear activities and regional influence. While Trump did not disclose operational details, his comments underscore a hardened stance against Iran’s defense capabilities and nuclear development.
US officials have repeatedly stated that they will use all necessary measures to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, a position that has shaped American foreign policy toward Tehran for years.
