Trump: US Could Resume Iran Strikes ‘If They Misbehave’

Trump warns US could restart Iran strikes as Tehran proposes phased deal including Strait of Hormuz reopening and sanctions relief.

US President Donald Trump has said the United States could resume strikes on Iran if it determines that Tehran violates ongoing expectations around a possible agreement, as both sides continue indirect discussions over a new deal framework.

His comments come as Iran presents a proposal through intermediaries that separates immediate maritime and sanctions issues from later nuclear negotiations.

“If they misbehave, if they do something bad, right now we’ll see. But it’s a possibility that could happen,” Trump said.

He also said he had been briefed on the outline of a proposed deal but was waiting for the exact wording.

“They told me about the concept of the deal. They’re going to give me the exact wording now,” he said.

Iranian official said the proposal includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz and ending the United States blockade of Iran, while nuclear talks would be addressed at a later stage.

The plan also sets out withdrawal of US forces near Iran, release of frozen Iranian assets, sanctions relief, and compensation arrangements, according to Iranian state-linked reporting.

The Strait of Hormuz has remained largely restricted for months, affecting global oil flows and shipping movement through the Gulf.

Trump said he was not satisfied with the Iranian proposal and questioned its terms in a post on his social media platform, adding that Iran had not paid enough cost for its actions.

The US and Israel suspended bombing operations weeks ago, but no agreement has been reached to formally end the conflict.

Iran has maintained that its nuclear programme is peaceful, while the United States continues to insist that any agreement must prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
