Trump Sets New 10–12 Day Deadline for Ukraine Deal, Warns of Imminent Sanctions on Russia’s Partners

Trump gives Putin 10–12 days for Ukraine deal, warns of sanctions, and signals imminent announcement during visit to Scotland.

US President Donald Trump has issued a fresh ultimatum to Russian President Vladimir Putin, stating that Moscow now has “10 or 12 days” to agree to Ukraine peace deal or face heightened economic consequences.

Speaking during a high-profile meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at his Turnberry golf resort in Scotland, Trump said he would make an official announcement on the matter “tonight or tomorrow,” hinting at new measures that could be rolled out without further delay.

“There’s no reason to wait anymore,” Trump told reporters. “We’ve waited long enough. If Putin doesn’t agree, we will act, fast and decisively.”

The latest statement marks a sharp escalation in Trump’s rhetoric on the ongoing Ukraine war. Just two weeks ago, he threatened to impose “very severe tariffs” on countries that continue to trade with Russia, giving them a 50-day window to help push for a resolution. That timeline now appears to be collapsing under the weight of Trump’s impatience.

The US President also suggested that secondary sanctions and expanded tariffs could be imposed on Russia’s major trading partners, particularly those deemed uncooperative in ending the conflict.

The Turnberry meeting with Prime Minister Starmer is Trump’s first official engagement in the UK since the Labour leader took office. While both sides described the meeting as “productive,” it was dominated by talk of Ukraine, global security, and post-war reconstruction efforts.

Later on Monday, Trump is expected to meet Scotland’s First Minister John Swinney to discuss trade, NATO alignment, and Scotland’s role in upcoming US-UK joint initiatives.
