Trump Nominates Tammy Bruce as US Deputy Representative to the United Nations

Trump has described Tammy Bruce as a “Great Patriot, Television Personality and Bestselling Author” who would represent the US brilliantly.

US President Donald Trump has nominated State Department spokeswoman and former Fox News host Tammy Bruce to serve as the country’s deputy representative to the United Nations, with the rank of ambassador.

Announcing the move in a post on Truth Social on Saturday, Trump described Bruce as a “Great Patriot, Television Personality and Bestselling Author” who would “represent the US brilliantly” at the world body.

“Since the beginning of my Second Term, Tammy has been serving with distinction as Spokesperson of the State Department, where she did a fantastic job,” Trump wrote.

Bruce, who joined the State Department in January, has been a prominent defender of several of the administration’s controversial foreign policy decisions — from Trump’s immigration crackdown to the deployment of private military contractors to deliver aid in Gaza.

Before entering government, Bruce spent more than two decades as a conservative contributor to Fox News and authored several books critical of liberal politics, including Fear Itself: Exposing the Left’s Mind-Killing Agenda.

It remains unclear when she will formally assume the position if confirmed by the Senate. Trump’s pick for US ambassador to the UN, Congressman Mike Waltz, is also awaiting Senate approval.

The role is currently held on an acting basis by Dorothy Shea, a career diplomat who served as deputy ambassador in 2024.
