President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s announcement of 32 ambassadorial nominees sparked controversy, with the list including figures like Reno Omokri, Femi Fani-Kayode and the former INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu.

Omokri expressed gratitude to the President and accepted his appointment, saying that President Tinubu taught him the virtue of forgiveness.

But it comes as an old 2023 clip of Omokri in an interview with Seun Akinbaloye resurfaced, with Omokri explicitly stating that he would never work with Tinubu as it goes against his principles.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party asked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to withdraw his list of 32 ambassadorial nominees, describing it as a diplomatic all-time low.

In the same vein, an old video of Femi Fani-Kayode verbally attacking a journalist resurfaced online, where he is seen calling a Daily Trust journalist “stupid” for asking a question about who was bankrolling his tour of southern Nigeria.

In addition, the African Democratic Congress condemned the nomination of Professor Mahmoud Yakubu, describing his nomination as inappropriate and insensitive due to Yakubu presiding over some of the most controversial elections in Nigerian history.

In another development, former President Olusegun Obasanjo issued a stern warning to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to decisively tackle banditry or risk international intervention, calling the insecurity ‘unacceptable’.

It comes as a 2024 interview with Obasanjo has resurfaced, in which he recalls a meeting with the controversial Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, in which Gumi discusses a meeting with terrorists where he saw some as young as 13 years old and ‘destroyed’ by drugs.

Meanwhile, a wave of abductions in Nigeria was highlighted by two separate, high-profile incidents over the weekend, with terrorists kidnapping a bride and her bridesmaids in Sokoto State, while gunmen abducted a pastor, his wife and other congregants at a new church in Kogi State.

Still in Kogi State, four schoolchildren were crushed to death by a truck on Monday on their walk to school in a neighbouring village due to the lack of education facilities in their own town.

In Borno State, the Nigerian Army rescued 12 teenage girls that were abducted by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists. Additionally, troops of the 28 Task Force Brigade successfully thwarted a planned midnight attack on Chibok communities by over 300 terrorists.

In our Milestone report, Vice President Kashim Shettima paid a condolence visit to Zainab Abah Folawiyo on the passing of her only son, Olusegun Awolowo Jr, whose death was announced by the family last week.

Our second Milestone report celebrates Nigeria’s football administrator, Amaju Melvin Pinnick, who turned 55 on the 1st of December.
