Tinubu Returns To Abuja After UK Visit, Eid-el-Fitr Engagements In Lagos

Tinubu departs Lagos for Abuja after Sallah celebrations and high-level meetings with governors, business leaders, and officials.

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday returned to Abuja after concluding his engagements in Lagos, where he celebrated the Eid-el-Fitr following his recent visit to the United Kingdom.

The President departed from the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport at about 6:44 p.m., marking the end of a busy schedule that combined official duties and festive activities.

According to his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, top political figures and government officials were present at his Ikoyi residence and the airport to bid him farewell. Among them were Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, former Governor Olusegun Osoba, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat.

Tinubu had earlier returned to Nigeria from the United Kingdom last Friday and immediately joined Muslim faithful for the Eid-el-Fitr prayers at Dodan Barracks in Lagos.

During his stay, the President held a series of high-level engagements, receiving no fewer than 23 state governors, including Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

He also met with key stakeholders, including business mogul Aliko Dangote, a delegation from the European Union, and members of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC).

Vice President Kashim Shettima also visited Lagos to brief the President on his recent trip to Borno State, particularly in the wake of the recent suicide bombing incident in the region.

The President’s return to Abuja signals a resumption of full official activities at the seat of power following the holiday and diplomatic engagements abroad.
