Tinubu Rejoices With Dele Alake On Re-Election As Africa Minerals Strategic Group Chairman

President Tinubu has congratulated Solid Minerals Minister Dele Alake on his re-election as chairman of Africa’s minerals ministers’ strategic forum.

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Mr Dele Alake, on his re-election as Chairman of the Africa Minerals Strategic Group (AMSG), a continental forum of ministers responsible for mining and solid minerals.

The AMSG was established to maximise benefits for African countries from the continent’s vast mineral resources and to strengthen cooperation in the global minerals value chain.

Alake was first elected chairman in 2024 on the sidelines of the Future Minerals Forum (FMF) and was re-elected at the group’s 2026 Annual General Meeting, held alongside the same conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

In a statement issued on Monday by his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described Alake’s re-election as a clear vote of confidence in his visionary leadership, strategic advocacy and commitment to Africa’s minerals sector.

The President noted that under Alake’s leadership, the AMSG has provided a strong and unified African voice in advancing collaboration, protecting mineral resources and positioning the continent as a major player in the global energy transition and critical minerals supply chain.
Tinubu also commended the minister for aligning the objectives of the AMSG with Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly efforts to unlock Nigeria’s solid minerals potential, attract sustainable investment, create jobs and ensure mineral wealth delivers socio-economic benefits.

“I congratulate Dele Alake for sustaining the confidence and trust of his colleagues across Africa, who have renewed his leadership of their forum,” Tinubu said, praising the minister’s pan-African vision and reform agenda in Nigeria’s minerals sector.

The President assured Alake of the Federal Government’s continued support as he leads the AMSG in deepening cooperation, strengthening institutions and promoting transparency, sustainability and inclusiveness in Africa’s minerals industry.
