Tinubu Posts Reno Omokri As Ambassador To Mexico, Jimoh Ibrahim To UN, Fani-Kayode To Germany

Nigeria’s new envoy list places Jimoh Ibrahim at UN, Reno Omokri in Mexico, Isaac Adewole to Canada and Fani-Kayode in Germany. 

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the postings of 65 ambassadors-designate to Nigerian diplomatic missions across the world and the United Nations.

The list includes 31 career diplomats and 34 non-career ambassadors whose nominations were confirmed by the Senate in December last year.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Among the non-career ambassadors approved for postings are Senator Grace Bent to Togo, Senator Ita Enang to South Africa, Victor Ikpeazu to Spain, Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu to Israel and Mahmoud Yakubu to Qatar.

Others include Reno Omokri to Mexico, Olufemi Pedro to Australia, Lateef Kayode Are to the United States, Joseph Sola Iji to Russia, Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Femi Fani-Kayode to Germany.

Former Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, was posted to Canada, while Nora Ladi Daduut will serve in South Korea.

The career ambassadorial postings include Nwabiola Ezenwa Chukwumeka to Côte d’Ivoire, Maimuna Ibrahim to Niger Republic, Monica Enebebechi to São Tomé and Príncipe and Mohammed Mahmud Lele to Algeria.

Others include Ahmed Mohammed Monguno to Egypt, Jane Adams Michael to Jamaica, Alexandra Clark-Omeru to Zambia, Geoffrey Lioma David to Mali and Yvonne Odumah to Equatorial Guinea.

Additional postings include Segun Ige to Lebanon, Ruben Abimbola Samuel to Italy, Ogechukwu Onaga to Mozambique, Magaji Umar to the Democratic Republic of Congo and Muhammad Saidu Dahiru to India.

According to the Presidency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already received agrément from the United Kingdom for the High Commissioner-designate, Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu, while France has also approved the appointment of Ambassador Ayo Oke.

The ministry has forwarded the nominations of the remaining envoys to their respective host countries and requested agrément in accordance with diplomatic procedures.

President Tinubu also directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately commence induction programmes for the ambassadors-designate and high commissioners ahead of their deployment to foreign missions.
