President Bola Tinubu has nominated Mr Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr Doris Anite-Uzoka.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, Anite-Uzoka has been redeployed to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State, marking her third portfolio in the current administration.
Tinubu has formally conveyed Oyedele’s nomination to the Senate for confirmation in a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Until his nomination, Oyedele served as chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he led efforts to overhaul Nigeria’s tax administration and fiscal framework.
Oyedele, who hails from Ikaram in Akoko area of Ondo State, is an economist, accountant and public policy expert with extensive experience in taxation and fiscal policy.
The 50-year-old attended Yaba College of Technology where he obtained a Higher National Diploma in accountancy and finance before earning a Bachelor of Science degree in applied accounting from Oxford Brookes University.
He also completed executive education programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.
Before entering public service, Oyedele spent 22 years at PwC, joining the firm in 2001 and rising to become Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.
He is also a professor at Babcock University in Ogun State and serves as a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
