Tinubu Names Obi Asika DG Arts and Culture, Appoints 10 Other CEOs For Agencies under Creative Economy Ministry 

He mandated them to discharge their duties in accordance with the highest standards of professionalism for the good of the creative sector

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of eleven new Chief Executive Officers for the agencies under the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture and Creative Economy.

In a statement signed by the special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, the new directors were mandated by the president to discharge their duties in accordance with the highest standards of professionalism, diligence, and patriotism with a view to making the creative sector more vibrant and robust.

One of the directors includes Nigerian entertainment entrepreneur, Obi Asika who was appointed as the new Director-General of the National Council for Arts and Culture.

As the founder of leading communications agency Dragon Africa, and co-founder of Social Media Week Lagos, Asika has strongly participated in the promotion and enabling of opportunities in the media, sports, entertainment, and technology industries, both locally and globally.

In the areas of the creative industries, sports, strategic communications, events, and more, Asika has worked with and advised governments, businesses, brands, agencies, and multilaterals.

Asika received his formal education from Eton College, The University of Warwick and The Nigeria Law School.

He is one who has helped to change the face of show business in West Africa.

Other appointees include Tola Akerele as the Director-General of the National Theatre, Shaibu Husseini as Director-General of National Films and Censors Board, Aisha Adamu Augie as Director-General of the Centre for Black and African Arts and Culture, Ekpolador-Ebi Koinyan, as the Chief Conservator of the National War Museum, Ahmed Sodangi as the Director-General of the National Gallery of Art and Chaliya Shagaya as the Director-General of the National Institute of Archeology and Museums Studies,

Some others are Hajiya Khaltume Bulama Gana as the Artistic Director of the National Troupe of Nigeria, Otunba Biodun Ajiboye as the Director-General of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation, Ali Nuhu as the Managing-Director of the Nigerian Film Corporation and Ramatu Abonbo Mohammed as the Director-General of the National Commission for Museums and Monuments.
