Tinubu Meets Adeleke At Presidential Villa Days After Osun Re-Election

President Bola Tinubu is meeting Governor Ademola Adeleke in Abuja, days after the Osun governor secured a second term.

President Bola Tinubu is meeting with Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke at the State House, Abuja, less than a week after the governor secured re-election for a second term.

Adeleke arrived at the Presidential Villa on Thursday evening and was driven to the forecourt before proceeding to the first floor for a closed-door meeting with the President.

The meeting is attracting considerable political interest following Adeleke’s victory in the Osun State governorship election held on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

Although the purpose of the meeting was not immediately disclosed, discussions between the two leaders could centre on developments in Osun State, governance, federal-state relations and broader national political issues.

The meeting also comes amid intensifying political manoeuvring ahead of the January 2027 presidential election.

Adeleke, who belongs to the Accord Party, has consistently expressed his readiness to support Tinubu’s bid for a second term despite the President belonging to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Thursday’s meeting is therefore expected to generate further political interest over relations between the Osun governor and the President following the fiercely contested governorship election.

Details of the closed-door discussions were yet to emerge at the time of filing this report.
