President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Lagos for Europe as part of his end of year break, ahead of an official engagement in the United Arab Emirates.
In a statement issued by the State House on Sunday, the presidency said the President left Nigeria on December 28 in preparation for his participation in the 2026 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.
According to the press release, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu departed Lagos on Sunday, December 28, for Europe, continuing his end of year break and ahead of his official trip to Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates.”
The statement disclosed that President Tinubu is attending the summit at the invitation of the UAE leader, noting that “His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, has invited President Tinubu to participate in the 2026 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week ADSW 2026 Summit.”
The weeklong event, scheduled to hold early January in Abu Dhabi, brings together global leaders from various sectors to discuss sustainable development.
Describing the focus of the summit, the presidency said, “with the theme ‘The Nexus of Next All Systems Go’, ADSW will connect ambition with action across innovation, finance, and people, showcasing how the world can move forward with confidence.”
The statement added that President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after the conclusion of the summit.
