President Bola Tinubu has felicitated Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari, who represents Zamfara West and serves as Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, on his 58th birthday on September 28, 2026.
Yari, a former governor of Zamfara State, was named Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council in August, with Tinubu serving as chairman and Vice President Kashim Shettima as vice-chairman.
In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described Yari as a loyal party member, experienced administrator and grassroots mobiliser whose political and organisational experience had continued to contribute to the APC.
Yari served as governor of Zamfara State from 2011 to 2019 and also chaired the Nigeria Governors’ Forum during his tenure.
The President expressed appreciation for Yari’s current assignment as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, where he is leading the party’s campaign activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Tinubu also commended the senator’s commitment and resilience, as well as what the President described as his belief in the progressive ideals of the APC.
He prayed that Almighty Allah would grant Yari many more years in good health, wisdom and strength to continue serving his constituents, the APC and Nigeria.
In a separate statement, Tinubu congratulated Nigerian filmmakers Damilola Osikoya of Switch Visual Production and Nora Awolowo of Rixel Studios after they achieved a Guinness World Record for the largest attendance at a film screening.
The record was set during the screening of Black Market in Lagos on September 26, 2026. Guinness World Records confirmed that 51,258 people attended the screening, surpassing the previous record.
Tinubu celebrated Osikoya and Awolowo for their creativity, enterprise and ambition, describing the achievement as further evidence of the talent driving Nigeria’s creative industry
The President said Nigeria’s creative economy was building businesses, creating jobs and opening new markets for Nigerian talent, while film, music, fashion and art continued to carry the country’s stories and culture to audiences around the world.
According to him, the achievement of Black Market demonstrated what was possible when Nigerian creativity was matched with enterprise and scale.
He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating opportunities for young Nigerians to build livelihoods and globally competitive businesses from their talents.
Tinubu commended everyone involved in Black Market and wished the team greater success.
