President Bola Tinubu has rejoiced with His Royal Majesty, Oba Rilwan Babatunde Osuolale Aremu Akiolu I, the Oba of Lagos, on his 82nd birthday, hailing the revered monarch as a pillar of stability, wisdom, and continuity in Nigeria’s traditional and civic life.
In his message, President Tinubu on Wednesday evening described Oba Akiolu as a steadfast custodian of the illustrious Lagos heritage, whose reign has upheld the dignity of the Iga Idunganran throne while deepening the bond between the traditional institution and the modern state.
The President commended Oba Akiolu’s unrelenting advocacy for equity, justice, and unity among all Lagosians noting that under Oba Akiolu’s two-decade reign, Lagos has continued to flourish as a centre of enterprise, coexistence, excellence and progress for Nigeria and Africa.
President Tinubu also paid tribute to the monarch’s distinguished service to the nation in his earlier years as a senior officer of the Nigeria Police Force, where he exemplified discipline and integrity before ascending the throne.
He praised His Majesty’s unwavering counsel to governments and leaders over the years, his wisdom in fostering development, and his tireless commitment to the well-being of his people.
The President prayed that Allah will continue to bless the Oba of Lagos with long life, sound health, and renewed strength, so that his reign may continue to be a source of pride to the people of Lagos and the entire nation.
Also, President Tinubu extended his heartfelt felicitations to the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Mr Khalil Suleiman Halilu on his 35th birthday.
The President, in a statement issued on Wednesday by his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, extolled Mr Halilu, one of the youngest appointees of the Renewed Hope administration, for redefining public sector innovation through his dynamic leadership and forward-thinking reforms that have repositioned NASENI as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s industrial and technological advancement.
President Tinubu lauded the NASENI chief for his youthful vigour, clarity of purpose, and commitment to harnessing indigenous ingenuity to drive economic diversification and job creation.
He wished Halilu continued success and wisdom in his service to the nation, encouraging him to sustain his remarkable contributions to the Renewed Hope Agenda and Nigeria’s technological self-reliance.
In another message, President Tinubu warmly felicitated with Alhaja Adiat Durorike Jokotade Subair, fondly known as Iya Sunnah, on her 80th birthday.
The President commended Alhaja Subair for her life of service, faith, and impact as a distinguished Lagosian, a former magistrate, public administrator, and women’s leader whose dedication to community upliftment has spanned decades.
President Tinubu recalled her trailblazing roles across public institutions, including the Lagos Executive Development Board, the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation (LSDPC), and the Lagos Judiciary, where she served with distinction. He also noted her remarkable contributions as President of the National Council of Women’s Societies (Ikeja Chapter) and her consistent advocacy for women’s empowerment, education, and social justice.
The President saluted Alhaja Subair’s enduring commitment to public good and her service to Islam as Somori Adinni of Okepopo Central Mosque and Iya Sunnah of Olorunsogo Mosque, Lagos.
President Tinubu joined family, friends, and associates in celebrating her life of purpose and grace, praying that Allah continues to strengthen her in good health, happiness, and divine peace.
