Cup holders Nigeria are not looking to take anything for granted in Saturday’s Unity Cup final against the Reggae Boyz of Jamaica at Charlton Athletic Stadium in London.
Head Coach Eric Chelle praised the squad that beat Zimbabwe 2-0 in Tuesday’s semi-final. He said he may tweak personnel, tactics, pattern and strategy for the final.
The Super Eagles and the Reggae Boyz drew 2-2 in the final of the same mini-tournament on 31 May 2025, before Nigeria won 5-4 on penalties.
In the first edition in 2002, Nigeria beat Jamaica 1-0 through James Obiorah. In 2004, Nigeria also won the competition after the Republic of Ireland joined.
On Saturday, Chelle may continue with a largely unchanged squad in London, with Arthur Okonkwo likely to start in goal after a clean sheet against Zimbabwe.
A defensive line of Chibueze Oputa, Chibuike Nwaiwu, Igoh Ogbu and Obinna Igboke may also be retained.
Tochukwu Nnadi may again link up with Alhassan Yusuf and Samson Tijani in midfield.
Terem Moffi, Philip Otele and Femi Azeez are expected to lead the attack.
Francis Uzoho is also available, alongside Tosin Oyedokun, Owen Oseni and Rafiu Durosinmi.
Azeez scored twice on his debut against Zimbabwe and is expected to play a key role again.
The team trained at Cray Valley ahead of their final session at The Valley.
