Six people have been killed and two others injured in a road crash along the Kabba–Odo-Ape Road in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The crash occurred on Saturday afternoon when a truck collided with a commercial vehicle, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
The Kogi State Sector Commander, Lawal Fagge, confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with Arise News on Sunday.
Fagge attributed the crash to speeding and urged motorists to avoid dangerous driving practices.
“It is unfortunate that six persons lost their lives as a result of this tragic incident involving a truck and another vehicle along the Kabba–Odo-Ape Road.”
He said two other people sustained varying degrees of injuries, while residents of Odo-Ape joined efforts to rescue survivors.
Fagge also warned motorists against speeding, unnecessary overtaking and driving while fatigued.
“We will continue to advise motorists to avoid speeding and unnecessary overtaking.”
He added:
“We are appealing to motorists to avoid speeding and desist from driving while fatigued. This is very important in preventing road crashes.”
The bodies of the six victims have been deposited at the morgue of the General Hospital in Kabba.
