Russia’s Defence Ministry said Wednesday that its forces intercepted 502 Ukrainian drones overnight during a large-scale attack across several Russian regions, while Russian forces also struck a fuel depot at the port of Odesa in southern Ukraine.
The ministry said the fuel depot was being used to supply fuel to the Ukrainian military, but did not provide details on the extent of the damage or report any casualties.
Russian authorities did not immediately disclose where all 502 drones were intercepted or provide further details on the overall damage caused by the reported attacks.
The reported strikes come as Russia and Ukraine continue to exchange long-range drone and missile attacks targeting military, energy and logistical infrastructure in both countries.
Russia has repeatedly accused Ukraine of launching large-scale drone attacks against its territory, while Ukraine has targeted Russian military and energy infrastructure during the ongoing war.
The latest reports come amid continued fighting between the two sides, with both countries regularly carrying out strikes against targets far from the front lines.
Russia’s claims have not been independently verified and Ukrainian authorities had not immediately commented on the reported drone attack or the strike on the Odesa fuel depot.
