The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has given the Federal Government a two-week ultimatum to address outstanding welfare issues or face industrial action.
The association issued the ultimatum during its 46th Annual General Meeting in Calabar, where Dr Emmanuel Ogar Idoko emerged as its National President.
The doctors are demanding payment of outstanding allowances and the implementation of the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) review.
They also called for the correction of gaps in the 2026 Medical Residency Training Fund.
Other demands include a review of doctors’ salaries, compensation for excess workload and stronger protection for health workers against assault.
NARD said the demands are aimed at addressing outstanding welfare concerns affecting resident doctors and improving working conditions within the health sector.
The association is expected to take further action if the Federal Government fails to address the issues within the two-week deadline.
