President Joe Biden Issues Pardons For Family Members In Final Hours Of Presidency

President Joe Biden has issued pardons for several family members, exercising his constitutional authority in his final hours.

In his final moments as President of the United States, Joe Biden has issued pardons for several members of his family, including his brothers James and Francis and his sister Valerie.

In a statement accompanying the announcement, Biden cited the “unrelenting attacks and threats” his family has endured as the motivation behind his decision. “These actions were motivated solely by a desire to hurt me—the worst kind of partisan politics. Unfortunately, I have no reason to believe these attacks will end,” he said.

Biden exercised his constitutional authority to pardon James B. Biden, Sara Jones Biden, Valerie Biden Owens, John T. Owens, and Francis W. Biden. The pardons come shortly after he granted clemency to his son, Hunter Biden, last month. Hunter had faced federal felony convictions related to gun possession and tax issues.

This latest move underscores Biden’s commitment to shielding his family from what he describes as politically motivated attacks as his presidency comes to a close. While critics may question the decision, the pardons align with his longstanding belief in protecting his loved ones from what he considers undue persecution.
