Police Arrest Five Suspected Kidnappers Of Schoolchildren In Ondo

Police say five suspects linked to the abduction of two schoolchildren in Ore have been arrested.

Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested five suspected kidnappers linked to the abduction of two schoolchildren in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects were arrested by the command’s Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad after an intelligence-led investigation. Police also recovered suspected ransom money and a motorcycle believed to have been used for the operation.

Police spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement issued in Akure. He described the arrests as a major step in the command’s fight against kidnapping and violent crime in the state.

According to the statement, the case was reported on May 12 by Andrew Yohana, who said his two sons, Jehu, 10, and Yohana, 5, were abducted on their way to school in Ore.

Police said detectives launched investigations and tracking operations immediately after receiving the report.

The investigation led to the arrest of two main suspects, Taofeek Lukman, 23, and Blessing Saturday, 27, in the Alaba area of Ore.

Police said N251,000 suspected to be part of the ransom paid by the family was recovered during the operation.

Operatives later raided another hideout linked to the suspects and recovered an unregistered motorcycle allegedly used in the kidnapping.

Further investigations led to the arrest of three other suspects identified as Peter Moses, 25, Sunday Isaac, 23, and Sanusi Dan Asabe, 37.

Jimoh said the suspects had made confessional statements and would be charged to court after investigations.
