The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arraigned a 35-year-old TikTok influencer, Faruk Mohammed, before a Federal High Court in Abuja for allegedly cyberbullying the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa.
Mohammed, an Abuja-based content creator, was arraigned on four counts bordering on alleged cyberbullying of the Defence Minister.
According to the prosecution, Mohammed used his TikTok account between 19 June and 17 July 2026 to make statements concerning General Musa and Nigeria’s ongoing fight against terrorism.
He allegedly claimed that Nigerian troops deployed to the frontline had died because of the failure of the Defence Minister and serving Defence Chiefs to take appropriate action.
The defendant was also accused of alleging that the Defence Minister’s legal adviser, Aliyu Anas, misled General Musa in an attempt to have him removed from office by the Presidency.
Mohammed pleaded not guilty to all four counts.
Prosecution counsel, Fidelis Isong, asked the court to fix a date for the commencement of trial.
However, defence counsel, Abdulkadir Ahmed, told the court that the defence had a pending bail application which had not yet been served on the prosecution.
Justice Obiorah Egwuatu subsequently adjourned the case to 9 September 2026 for hearing of the bail application.
The judge also ordered that Mohammed be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the hearing.
