Plane Collides With Car During Emergency Highway Landing In Florida

A Beechcraft 55 aircraft made an emergency landing on I-95, hitting a car and injuring an elderly driver.

In Florida, a small plane collided with a car during a crash landing on Monday near Merritt Island.

The Beechcraft 55 aircraft developed a malfunction in flight, forcing the 27-year-old pilot to attempt an emergency landing on the highway. “As power began to deplete in both engines, the pilot was forced to decide to land the plane on the highway,” reports confirmed.

Traffic on the highway led to the plane colliding with a Toyota Camry driven by an elderly woman. She was admitted to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The incident was captured on a dashcam of a car following behind, showing the plane dive onto the road and collide directly with the vehicle.

There were two people on board the plane, including the pilot and a passenger. “Neither the pilot flying the plane nor the passenger on board sustained any injuries,” the Florida Patrol Team stated.

Brevard County Fire Rescue confirmed the aircraft attempted an emergency landing near the 201-mile marker of I-95. “During this, due to loss of balance, it collided with a car and crashed,” the team said.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched an investigation into the incident.
