Peter Obi: INEC Displayed Incompetence In Conduct of Election, We’re on A Quest For Vindication

“We shall endure, persist until we reach our destination because a new Nigeria is our destination.”

Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in Nigeria’s 2023 election, Peter Obi, has expressed his displeasure with the supreme court judgement that affirmed President Bola Tinubu’s victory at the polls.

Speaking during a press conference on Monday, Obi said the apex court abandoned its responsibility as a court of policy.

He also disparage the Independent National Electoral Commission on the conduct of the election. He however vowed fo fight on.

“Both INEC and supreme court as referees respectively shifted the goal post in the middle of the game. Where the recent supreme court ruling ends is where our commitment to a new Nigeria begins,” Obi said.

He said despite the fact that he has exhausted all legal and constitutional remedies available, it is not the end but the “beginning of our quest for vindication.”

He clarified that the judgement does not interfere with his pursuit for a new Nigeria as he thanked all Nigerians who supported his candidacy.

“We deeply appreciate the non-partisan moral support of millions of youths and ordinary Nigerians across ethnic regions and geopolitical divides who have continued to support Datti and me. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Nigerians who have supported this mission from the onset.

“We shall endure, persist until we reach our destination because a new Nigeria is our destination.

“I remain consistent in my belief of a possibility of a new Nigeria built on character, competence, capacity, integrity, respect for the rule of law based on justice and fairness.”
