Ahead of his 58th birthday on December 21, 2025, Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, urges friends, associates and the general public not to organise birthday parties or place newspaper advertisements in his honour.
Instead, the governor asks well-wishers to convert birthday gifts, adverts and social celebrations into cash or material donations for children with disabilities and other vulnerable groups in the state.
Oyebanji specifically requests that donations be directed to government-owned special schools, including the Government Special School for the Deaf in Ikoro-Ekiti, Government Special School for the Blind in Ikere-Ekiti, and Government Special School for Children with Physical and Intellectual Disabilities in Ido-Ekiti.
He also includes the Ekiti State Relief and Rehabilitation Centre for the Mentally Challenged in Ado-Ekiti and the Government Therapy Centre for Children with Disabilities in Ado-Ekiti as beneficiaries.
In a statement signed on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, the governor says financial and material support sent to the special schools and centres would have greater impact by directly improving the welfare of the children.
Oyebanji expresses gratitude to family members, friends and associates who have made similar donations to the special schools over the past three years, noting that the gestures have consistently brought joy to the students.
The statement provides designated bank account details for each school and centre to facilitate transparent and direct donations from well-wishers.
