Omah Lay Tops UK Official Afrobeats Chart As ‘I Am’ Debuts At Number One

Omah Lay leads UK Afrobeats Chart with “I Am,” while “Artificial Happiness” also secures a top five position.

Nigerian singer Omah Lay has claimed the number one spot on the UK Official Afrobeats Chart with his single “I Am,” marking a strong debut at the top of the rankings.

The chart, released by the Official Charts Company for the week of April 12 to April 18, 2026, ranks the biggest Afrobeats songs in the United Kingdom based on sales and streams across a seven-day period.

According to the latest rankings, “I Am” enters the chart as a new entry at number one, reflecting its immediate popularity. The artist also secured another spot in the top five, as his track “Artificial Happiness” placed at number five, reinforcing his strong showing on this week’s chart.

At number two is “Jogodo,” a collaboration between Wizkid and Asake, while “Kakalika” by Dopenation sits at number three. “Worship” by Asake and DJ Snake follows at number four.

The Official Afrobeats Chart is described as a ranking of “The UK’s biggest Afrobeats songs of the week based on sales and streams across a seven day period, compiled by the Official Charts Company.”

The latest rankings highlight the continued global rise of Afrobeats, with Nigerian artists maintaining a dominant presence and driving the genre’s international appeal through strong streaming performance and audience engagement.
