Norway To Seek Increased Financial Support For Ukraine, Prime Minister Says

Norway plans to increase financial support for Ukraine, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre announced ahead of key meetings in London.

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre has announced plans to request additional financial backing for Ukraine, signalling Norway’s continued commitment to supporting the war-torn nation.

Speaking to public broadcaster NRK on Saturday, Støre confirmed that his government would soon present a proposal to parliament to boost aid.

“I can say today that we will go back to parliament in the near future with a proposal to increase the support,” Støre told NRK.

Last year, Norway’s parliament approved a total of 35 billion Norwegian crowns ($3.12 billion) for military and civilian aid to Ukraine in 2025. The country has also committed to providing 155 billion crowns in assistance between 2023 and 2030.

Støre is set to meet with European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in London on Sunday to discuss ongoing support efforts. The meeting follows a tense exchange between Zelensky and US President Donald Trump at the White House on Friday, which reportedly ended in disaster as the two leaders clashed over the war with Russia.

Norway’s pledge to increase financial aid underscores its stance on supporting Ukraine as the conflict with Russia continues to unfold.
