At least nine people, including children, have died following a tragic bus accident in central Vietnam, according to a government statement released Friday.
The crash occurred at approximately 1:45 a.m. local time in Ha Tinh province, when a passenger bus travelling from the capital, Hanoi, to the central city of Danang veered off the road, collided with traffic signposts, and overturned.
Authorities confirmed that the deceased include individuals aged between 4 and 49 years. Sixteen other passengers were injured and have been hospitalised with various injuries.
Traffic accidents remain a serious concern in Vietnam. According to the National Statistics Office, road crashes claimed 5,024 lives in the first half of this year—down slightly from 5,343 during the same period in 2024.
The government has not yet provided details on the cause of the crash, but an investigation is expected to follow.
