It’s been 25 years since Chioma Anjuwa won Nigeria’s first individual gold medal at the 1996 Olympic games.

A quarter of a century later, her victory at the long jump remains Nigeria’s only Olympic gold in that event.

Ajunwa says that’s a shame, an example of how a generation of Nigerian athletes have been let down by a system that does not invest enough in their development.

Arise Correspondent Adefemi Akinsanya met Chioma Ajunwa to hear her tell her story of triumph, tribulation and tomorrow.
