Nigerian Industrialist Leemon Ikpea Meets Pope In Private Vatican Audience

Nigerian businessman Leemon Ikpea held a private Vatican audience with the Pope, who prayed for Nigeria and commended his philanthropy.

A leading Nigerian businessman and philanthropist, Dr. Leemon Ikpea, has been granted a private audience with the Pope at the Vatican, an encounter described by close associates as deeply spiritual and inspiring.

Ikpea, the founding chairman and chief executive officer of the Lee Group of Companies, travelled to Rome as part of his annual spiritual devotion and ongoing commitment to the Catholic faith. The Edo State-born industrialist is a prominent figure in Nigeria’s indigenous oil and gas technology sector.

During the private meeting, the Pope reportedly prayed for Ikpea and for Nigeria, urging peace, unity and national development. The Pontiff also commended the businessman for his philanthropic contributions and sustained support for human development initiatives within Nigeria and beyond.

An associate who accompanied Ikpea to the Vatican described the encounter as “humbling and uplifting,” noting that it reinforced the industrialist’s strong Catholic values and dedication to service despite his corporate achievements.

The associate added that Ikpea has remained closely connected to his roots in Ewatto, Edo State, even as he continues to expand his business interests and social investments.

Dr. Ikpea is widely recognised for supporting education, healthcare and community development programmes across several parts of the country. Supporters view the Vatican audience as both a spiritual milestone and an acknowledgement of his humanitarian efforts.
