Nigeria Decides: Bala Mohammed Re-Elected Governor Of Bauchi State

Mohammed polled 525,280 votes, triumphing over his closest opponent who polled 432,272 votes.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Bala Mohamed, as the winner of the Bauchi State gubernatorial elections.

Bala Mohammed was declared winner on Monday morning by the INEC returning officer, Professor Abdulkareem Mohammed as he said, “That Mohammed Bala Abdulkadir of PDP having satisfied the requirement of the law is hereby returned elected.”

The PDP candidate polled 525,280 votes to gain traction over his closest rival, the All Progressive Congress’ (APC) candidate, Air Marshall Sadique Abubakar, Nigeria’s immediate past Chief of Air Staff, who polled 432,272 votes.

Bala’s re-election has made him the 8th governor to be re-elected for another four-year term out of the 11 governors who ran for another term in power across Nigeria on the March 18 polls. His victory has also brought up the number of PDP’s won states to three out of the thirteen states whose results have been announced.
