US actress Nia Long has received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, recognising her contributions to motion pictures after more than three decades in film and television. (Hollywood Walk of Fame)
Long was honoured on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, with the 2,857th star in the Motion Pictures category at 6150 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles. The ceremony featured filmmaker Graham King and rapper and actor Snoop Dogg as guest speakers, while the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce declared the date Nia Long Day.
Snoop Dogg, who spoke at the ceremony, praised Long for maintaining her identity throughout her career despite pressures within the entertainment industry.
“Hollywood has a way of trying to change you, trying to tell you how to look, tell you how to talk, tell you who you’re supposed to be, and sometimes even tell you when your time is up.”
He added that Long had chosen to remain herself throughout her career.
“But Nia? She said, ‘nah, I’m going to be Nia.’ That’s why we’re still standing here, celebrating her after all these years.”
Long, who was joined at the ceremony by family members including her mother and two sons, also reflected on the personal meaning of the honour.
During her speech, she connected the five points of the star to God, her mother, her sons and people who have influenced her life. She also recalled her early years in Los Angeles and her mother’s support as she pursued acting.
The actress began building her screen career in the early 1990s, appearing in films and television productions including Boyz n the Hood, Friday, Love Jones and The Best Man, as well as The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Third Watch.
Long has continued to work across film and television in recent years. She portrayed Katherine Jackson in the 2026 biographical film Michael, directed by Antoine Fuqua, alongside Jaafar Jackson and Colman Domingo.
Her Walk of Fame recognition adds another milestone to a career spanning decades, with the actress continuing to take on acting and producing roles.
