Ghanaian actress and fashion personality Nana Akua Addo is trending online after videos appearing to show her with facial injuries surfaced on social media, with reports alleging that she was assaulted by her husband.
The footage, which circulated widely on Tuesday, appears to show Addo receiving medical attention with a swollen lip, an injury beneath one eye and blood visible on her clothing. However, the circumstances surrounding the injuries have not been independently established.
Other footage being circulated online has also been linked to claims of an altercation involving Addo, her husband, Harold Norman, and their daughter. The authenticity, timing and context of the videos have not been independently verified.
The reports have generated concern among social media users and entertainment personalities, with some calling attention to the actress’ wellbeing while others have urged caution over unverified claims.
Ghanaian media personality and lawyer Mona Gucci, who is reported to be a longtime friend of Addo, also publicly expressed support for the actress following the circulation of the videos.
In a message shared online, Gucci told Addo that she deserved “love that is gentle, respectful, and safe,” while encouraging her not to feel pressured to maintain appearances.
The development has also brought renewed attention to Addo’s previous comments about difficulties in her marriage.
In a 2021 interview, the actress spoke about dealing with her husband’s infidelity and acknowledged the emotional effect it had on her.
“Just like any other person, I was broken. I was hurt, but we pick ourselves together,” she said at the time.
Addo also said the couple sought professional counselling to work through the challenges, describing the experience as difficult and saying it changed the dynamics of their family.
The actress, who is known for her acting career and highly regarded red-carpet appearances, married Norman in a private civil ceremony in March 2022.
As of the time of reporting, there has been no independently verified statement from Addo, Norman or law enforcement establishing what caused the injuries shown in the circulating videos.
