Nigerian Banku star Mr. Eazi has announced a new EP called ‘Something Else’, which will be released February 19 via his own Banku Music/emPawa Africa.
On Friday, Eazi shared his new single ‘The Don,’ which appears on the EP and was produced by Killertunes and E Kelly.
In a press statement, Mr. Eazi discussed how his talent incubator emPawa Africa took up a good deal of his time.
“I spent the entire year working on building emPawa Africa and morphing into ‘Don Eazi,’” he said.
“I almost had no time to record. This project was inspired by Kel P and Killertunes, who kept coming to meet me in Accra until I finally recorded ‘The Don.’ That opened the door for me getting back in the studio.”
In addition to Killertunes and E Kelly, ‘Something Else’ features production from Spellz, Blaq Jerzee, Kel P, and Jaylon, as well as a guest spot from Kenya-based artist, Xenia Manasseh.
According to press materials, Mr Eazi is currently working on his upcoming third album, tentatively titled ‘Life is Eazi, Vol. 3.’ This will be his first album since 2017’s Life Is Eazi Vol. 2.
Last month, Mr Eazi teamed up with J Balvin for their track ‘Lento.’ Other collaborations include ‘Oh My Gawd’ with Major Lazer and Nicki Minaj and ‘Nobody,‘ his link-up with DJ Neptune and #emPawa100 alum Joeboy, which was the No. 1 single of the year in Nigeria, generating over 100 million streams worldwide.
