Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has unveiled new virtual reality glasses and a handheld device designed to interact with the company’s AI agents as the tech giant advances its metaverse and artificial intelligence ambitions.
Zuckerberg announced the products on Wednesday at Meta Connect, the company’s annual conference for developers.
The new devices include the Meta VR Glasses, a slimmer and lighter alternative to Meta’s older Quest-branded VR headsets, and the Muse Charm, a handheld device designed to work with Meta’s recently launched Muse AI personal agent.
Zuckerberg provided few details about the Muse Charm but said users would be able to speak to the device to interact with their Meta AI agents without unlocking a phone or opening an app.
“We’ve packed a lot of technology with this little guy,” Zuckerberg said.
He added that Meta was still finalising the device’s components and planned to have it ready to ship in time for the December holidays. The company has not disclosed its price.
The Meta VR Glasses are expected to go on sale in spring 2027 for $1,299. They mark Meta’s first VR device since the company introduced the $299 Quest 3S in 2024.
The new glasses are powered by an external puck containing a Qualcomm processor and battery. The setup allows the puck to function as a mini-computer while helping reduce the glasses’ overall weight and size.
The glasses also feature improved visuals compared with the older Quest headset, alongside sensors that track users’ eye and hand movements, reducing the need for controllers.
“We have built a new kind of VR device that delivers the same magical feeling of presence and immersion, high-resolution displays and views of the world around you in a form factor that is a pair of glasses for the first time,” Zuckerberg said.
