Britain’s regulator has opened an investigation into Meta Platforms over whether it properly assessed the safety risks linked to Instagram’s Instants feature.
The regulator said on Tuesday that it was examining whether Meta breached UK online safety laws by failing to properly assess the risks posed by the feature before launching it in May.
Instants allows content shared by users on Instagram to disappear after it has been viewed.
The investigation will determine whether Meta adequately assessed the potential safety risks associated with the feature before making it available to users.
