Napoli have been crowned Serie A champions for the fourth time—and the second in three seasons—after a rousing 2-0 win against Cagliari at a jubilant Armando Maradona Stadium.
The victory sparked wild celebrations across Naples, where Antonio Conte’s men held their nerve despite pressure from title rivals Inter Milan, who cruised to a 2-0 win away at Como.
Napoli took control from the outset, dominating possession with 72% and sending in 17 crosses by the half-time whistle. The breakthrough came in the 42nd minute when Matteo Politano delivered a pinpoint cross that Scott McTominay met with an acrobatic bicycle kick—his most iconic goal to date.
With Inter’s lead over Como making the title race a must-win situation, Napoli’s tension was evident early in the second half. But Romelu Lukaku rose to the occasion with a moment of brilliance, muscling past two defenders to latch onto Amir Rrahmani’s long ball before slotting a composed finish past Simone Scuffet. The Belgian’s celebration, for which he received a yellow card, echoed through the stands and the city beyond.
Despite being suspended and watching from the stands, Antonio Conte’s tactical presence was clear. His team limited Cagliari to just one shot—none on target—while Napoli amassed 22 attempts on goal.
Meanwhile, Inter Milan ended their campaign with a win, but it wasn’t enough. Stefan de Vrij opened the scoring with a powerful header from Hakan Calhanoglu’s corner in the 20th minute, and Joaquin Correa added a second just after the break with a tidy finish following a clever pass from Mehdi Taremi.
Como, under Cesc Fabregas, showed determination despite being reduced to ten men after Pepe Reina was sent off in his farewell match. Patrick Cutrone and Gabriel Strefezza both missed key chances, but Inter’s cautious second-half approach—with an eye on the Champions League final—meant their efforts ultimately fell short in the title race.
Conte now joins an elite group of managers to have won Serie A with three different clubs—Juventus, Inter, and Napoli—securing his legacy on a historic night for the city of Naples.
