Maresca Backs Man City After 114 Premier League Financial Rules Breaches Verdict

Enzo Maresca expresses complete trust in Manchester City after an independent commission finds the club guilty of 114 Premier League financial rules breaches.

Enzo Maresca has reiterated his “complete trust” in Manchester City after an independent commission found the club guilty of 114 breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules.

The verdict was announced during the international break, with the club subsequently appealing against the decision.

Speaking to the media at a press conference for the first time since the ruling, Maresca said his focus remained on his players, although he acknowledged that the case had been a major topic of discussion within the squad.

The ruling comes ahead of City’s trip to Anfield on Sunday, where they are expected to face a hostile reception from Liverpool supporters.

Liverpool are among the clubs whose interests could be affected by the findings, which concern alleged disguised funding and contracts valued at more than £900 million over a nine-year period between 2009 and 2018.

The allegations have intensified scrutiny of City’s financial dealings, with the club maintaining its right to challenge the commission’s decision through an appeal.

Despite the off-field developments, Maresca has sought to maintain his confidence in the club as City prepare for a crucial Premier League encounter.

Elsewhere, Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola is expected to discuss the upcoming fixture and City’s verdict, while Manchester United’s Michael Carrick will preview his side’s match against Tottenham.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is also scheduled to speak after signing a new contract with the club.
