Man City Thrash Chelsea 3-0 At Stamford Bridge To Put Pressure On Arsenal

Manchester City score three second-half goals to beat Chelsea 3-0, closing gap on Arsenal to six points.

Manchester City closed the gap on league leaders Arsenal to six points with a dominant 3-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, scoring all three goals in the second half.

Pep Guardiola’s side, who also have a game in hand, took full advantage after Arsenal’s shock home defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday. Despite a sluggish first half, City returned after the break with renewed intensity.

The breakthrough came in the 51st minute when Rayan Cherki delivered a precise cross for Nico O’Reilly, who powered a header past Robert Sanchez. Cherki turned provider again six minutes later, threading a pass to former Chelsea defender Marc Guehi, who calmly slotted into the far corner.

Chelsea’s struggles worsened as Moises Caicedo was dispossessed deep in his own half, allowing Jeremy Doku to surge forward and finish confidently to seal the win.

The hosts had earlier shown glimpses of promise, with Marc Cucurella’s finish ruled out for offside and Pedro Neto denied by Gianluigi Donnarumma. However, they failed to recover, slipping to a third consecutive league defeat.

City’s clinical second-half performance strengthens their title push, while Chelsea’s poor run continues under Liam Rosenior.
