Livestock Ministry Allocates N140m For Rehabilitation Of Kaduna Emir Palaces, Mosques

Nigeria’s livestock ministry allocated N140 million for emir palaces and mosques despite the projects having no livestock link.

The Federal Ministry of Livestock Development has allocated N140 million in the 2026 budget for the construction and rehabilitation of emir palaces and mosques in Kaduna State, despite the projects having no direct connection to livestock development.

The allocation, contained in the 2026 Appropriation Act, is listed under the ministry’s headquarters capital projects and forms part of several constituency projects captured in its budget.

According to the budget document seen by TheCable, the ministry earmarked N140 million for the “construction and rehabilitation of emir palaces and mosque(s) in Birnin Gwari/Giwa federal constituency, Kaduna state.”

The allocation is among a number of projects outside the ministry’s core mandate included in the 2026 spending plan.

The ministry also budgeted N2.1 billion for the construction of schools for students in rural farming communities across the South-West, while N700 million each was allocated for the construction of rural roads serving farming communities in Anambra and Ogun states.

In addition, the budget provides N595 million for the purchase of grains for vulnerable communities across the South-East and N490 million for the construction of rural farm roads in Imo State.

The ministry further earmarked N350 million for the supply of medical equipment to primary healthcare centres in Yala, Ogoja, Obudu, Bekwarra and Obanliku Local Government Areas of Cross River State.

Other allocations include N210 million for the construction of a multipurpose hall, sports and event centre in Ifeanyi Ubah Senatorial District, as well as another N210 million for the purchase and supply of hospital equipment to improve healthcare facilities in Oju/Obi Federal Constituency of Benue State.

The budget also contains N175 million for the purchase of medical equipment in Idanre Federal Constituency and N70 million for the renovation of nurses’ quarters in Ojobo community, Burutu Federal Constituency.
