Leeds and Rangers co-owner, Jed York has been jailed in Ohio, after pleading no contest to charges stemming from an undercover prostitution investigation.
The 45-year-old, who also owns the San Francisco 49ers, was convicted of disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools after reaching a plea deal that saw the original charge reduced.
Court records show York was sentenced to one day in jail for each offence, to run concurrently, with credit for time already served. He was also fined $150 for disorderly conduct and $1,000 for possessing criminal tools.
According to US media reports, York responded to an advertisement on a prostitution website posted by undercover officers from an Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force. Court documents allege he arranged sexual activity with a woman in exchange for $140.
The criminal-tools charge is believed to relate to the phone York used to respond to the advertisement.
The case was brought by the East Palestine Police Department and filed at Columbiana County Municipal Court on Monday. York pleaded no contest to both charges at his arraignment and was found guilty.
A request to have the case expunged was also filed and denied on the same day. In Ohio, a no contest plea allows a defendant to accept a conviction without formally admitting guilt.
